Female Voices Of Metal And Rock review the upcoming new album from Synlakross “Mental Parasites” which is due for release on 3rd October 2024.

Every now and then everybody needs a little bit of chaos in their life to remind them that they are still very much alive and “Mental Parasites” the superb new album from SynlakrosS does exactly that by delivering this vital service in absolute spades.

Spanish Metal maestros SynlakrosS have been creating their own unique, weird and wonderful brand of metal since 2008 with the core of the bands lineup today being established in 2010. “Mental Parasites” is their fifth full length studio album.

“Mental Parasites” moves effortlessly somewhere in between frantically demonic death metal and sheer breakneck speed full-on Metalcore that shamelessly inflicts you to such a brutal ear bashing that it will have you champing at the bit for more!

Patricia Pons awesome vocal capability provides the perfect companion to the soundtrack as it seamlessly switches from sometimes being angelically sweet to the more often guttural and brutal growls that will leave you both enthralled and in complete awe.

SynlakrosS is Patricia Pons (vocals), “Roro” Pablo Fuentes (bass), Ivan Munoz (guitar), Aaron Hidalgo (guitar) and Dan Shurak (drums).

Literally starting with “A Cherry On Top” SynlakrosS take us on an exhilarating and at times terrifyingly traumatizing scream fest that will simply leave your jaw firmly on the floor.

Brain frazzling tracks like “Bunnies and Bows”, “Freak” and “Mental Breakdown” are wickedly enjoyable and twisted, they cruelly cut deep into your psyche with some beautiful moments of pure vocal genius that are sure to put more than just a demented grin across your face.

The harder riffing “Paranoid” and “Popcorn” are more staple Death Metal tunes, delivered at an electrifying pace with precision and power being fully unleashed for your listening pleasure. Whilst we all know a “Drama Queen” or a “Dickhead” or two, these big punching tunes really do help get us up close and personal with those tragic beings who we really ought to avoid at all costs.

The very bleak “Razor Blade” brings “Mental Parasites” to a sobering finish as well it might in the real world of mental illness and for those with minds of fragile stability. It’s a very thought provoking and devastatingly honest end to a very thought provoking and devastatingly honest album.

“Mental Parasites” is an intense body blow of an album that will leave you totally drained and yet still completely satisfied in the same way as you would when you know you have reached the end of a tough and hazardous journey! SynlakrosS have grappled with very sensitive and topical subjects in their own unique way by giving us a fleeting glimpse into the confused mind from the inside. “Mental Parasites” is a stunning composition and worthy of a place on anyone’s playlist. Very Highly Recommended.
